If you set up a recovery key first, yes. On the lock screen tap Forgot PIN?, enter your 24-word phrase, and you'll be asked to create a new PIN immediately.

If you did not, there is no recovery path — this is intentional. The vault is designed so that only the PIN holder can decrypt it, and that includes us. You'll need to delete and reinstall the app to start fresh.

Nowhere by us. The 24-word phrase is shown to you exactly once — write it down and keep it safe. A copy of the master key wrapped by that phrase is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device only. Setup makes you retype four random words from it before it continues, so you can't skip writing it down.

The Keychain entries are deleted and the vault is gone. The counter survives app relaunches and is only reset by a successful unlock. There is no override, on your side or ours. If you have a recovery phrase, use Forgot PIN? before running the counter up.

All encrypted files and metadata are deleted with the app. Back up first if you want to keep them.

iOS Keychain entries survive uninstall by default — that is iOS behaviour, not something specific to Vaultic. To clear them explicitly, reinstall and use Settings → Erase Vault.

By default, no. Vault files are stored in Application Support, which iCloud does not back up automatically, and the app does not sync your vault on its own.

With Vaultic Pro you can enable optional encrypted iCloud Drive backup. The archive is AES-256-GCM encrypted on your device before upload — Apple only ever receives opaque ciphertext, and the key never leaves your device. Vaultic keeps your last 10 versions.

It moves your entire vault directly to another iPhone or iPad over your local Wi-Fi. No cloud, no cable, no account. Both devices must be on the same network and both confirm a one-time six-digit pairing code before any data moves.

The payload is the same passphrase-sealed archive used by Export, so the data is encrypted before it leaves the source device. It is a Pro feature.

Yes — always. Restore is free forever, even after cancelling. You can download and decrypt any backup you created while subscribed, at any time.

Yes. Settings → Export vault writes a single .vault archive to Files or AirDrop, sealed with a passphrase you choose. The format is documented in the project's EXPORT_FORMAT.md, so a future tool can decrypt it without this app.

Yes, in five places. There is no Vaultic-operated vault server: no backend that can receive, store or read your vault, no account, and no analytics, telemetry or crash-reporting SDK of our own.

Three happen only when you ask: the Private Browser loads the pages you visit; Encrypted iCloud Backup (Pro) uploads a sealed archive to your own iCloud; Device Transfer (Pro) sends an encrypted copy to a paired device over your local network.

Two run on their own: purchases and Pro status are checked with Apple and RevenueCat at launch and on return to the foreground, and the free version loads one banner ad from Google Mobile Ads.

The free version shows one banner from Google AdMob, on the Vault and Documents screens only, never over the lock screen. Vaultic Pro or Lifetime removes ads, and those versions never start the ad SDK at all.

Your photos, videos, documents, album names, PIN, recovery key and Private Browser URLs are never sent to Google. Every ad request is bare — no keywords, no content URL, no custom targeting, no identifier from us. See Advertising in the Privacy Policy.

In the EEA, UK and Switzerland — and for state privacy choices in the United States — Google's own consent message asks first, and Settings → Privacy Choices reopens it. On iOS the free version also shows Apple's tracking prompt; declining costs nothing but the advertising identifier.

No. It runs a non-persistent session — no cookies, cache or history are kept by Vaultic once it ends — and blocks common third-party trackers. The session is also cleared when Vaultic locks or goes to the background.

It does not make you anonymous. The websites you visit, your internet provider, your network operator and any VPN you use can still see your traffic in the normal way. It is a privacy convenience, not an anonymity tool.

Photos, videos and PDF documents. Live Photos are stored as real Live Photos, with their motion and audio intact.

Vaultic does not have a notes feature or a decoy vault, and it does not sync your vault between devices.

Because a vault that loses a photo is worse than no vault. Every import is written, fsynced, atomically renamed, then read back, decrypted and SHA-256-compared against the input. If the check fails, the copy is deleted and you are told.

Only after that check does Vaultic offer to remove the originals — and Keep in both is the preselected answer. Items inside the 7-day verification grace period are excluded from that suggestion.

Entirely through Apple: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your device. We have no access to your subscription or payment details and cannot cancel or refund on your behalf. Refund requests go through Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Open Settings → Restore Purchases. Vaultic asks Apple and RevenueCat what your Apple Account owns and re-applies it. Make sure you're signed in with the Apple Account that made the purchase. If it still doesn't appear, email us with the purchase date.
